Reviews
Delicious Chinese food! Place is half self-service, with appropriate very fair prices. The pan fried dumplings and the braised beef noodle soup were probably the best I had in Chinatown so far! Also the cow stomach cold appetizer (in a box next to cashier) is really popular and tasty. Would definitely recommend to try
Food portion were not small. I won’t say it’s delicious, but it was bad and the food portion was fairly big. I like the beef noodle soup, but I would like the noodle to cook 30 secs less. It would be perfect if the noodle can be a bit more chewy. It was a fairly popular place. It may or may not find a table during the lunch and dinner time. If you are trying to find the food with decent price. Here’s the place.
Mom and Pop establishment, such friendly faces, and helpful helping us decide on dumplings on menu. They also have frozen dumplings tp take home and steamed buns to cook at home as well. Got the pan-fried with chive and pork, so yummy!
I had a really great time at San Dong! They had a lot of delicious-looking options for noodles and dumplings. I had the dumplings with beef soup and it was delicious! I also tried some of my family's dishes, including veggie dumplings and some other noodle dishes. They were all delicious and everyone enjoyed their food.
Service was good (order at the counter) and food came out very quickly. Plenty of parking was available as well.
This is a quaint and nice place. Order, take your number, dine in\takeout and enjoy your food! Get your own eating utensils, drinks and to go containers as there are no waitresses or waiters. No frills dining works for me as it keeps prices reasonable. We will be back.
The inside is small and casual. Their menu is standard. I think it's a good place for a quick lunch or dinner. Plus, their prices are super cheap with large portion! This is a self-served place. I'm not surprised. The moment you walk in, you can already sense that but I don't mind.
Food: You can order at the register. I ordered the chicken steak. It comes with rice, veggies, and with an egg. It was a big portion, took me a while to finish. It was around 6-7 dollars for of all that. In addition, the dumplings were pretty good too and they give you plenty.
the wenzhou wontons are a hidden gem! by far the best dumplings i’ve ever eaten.
the steamed pork & cabbage dumplings are ok, a tad sweet for my taste. the beef noodle soup is also just ok, the meat can be a little tough though the homemade noodles are excellent.
get the wonton soup for something unique you won’t find at other chinese restaurants.
Solid 'fast casual' Chinese food that'll fill you up for good value.
Food:
Pork and Fried Chicken Rice cutlet dishes (~$10 each) come with a healthy serving of rice, side of steamed cabbage, a tea egg, braised tofu + pork, and meat cutlet. The dishes definitely filled us up but weren't super appetizing. The chicken cutlet in particular was extremely dry and stringy (see pictures).
Dumplings: We ordered the Chicken and Cabbage Fried Dumplings (12 ct.) for and Pork and Chive Dumplings (15 ct.) for ~$10/each. The Chicken and Cabbage dumplings were severely lacking in flavor. The Pork and Chive Dumplings were slightly better but that's not saying much if anything. The insipid flavor was accompanied by a thick and doughy dumpling wrapper.
Service: You order and pay at the counter and then the meal is brought to your table. You have to self-serve utensils, water, etc. This restaurants places a surcharge (4%) if you use credit card.
Value: Pretty good value for a dine-in meal. Most dishes offer heaping serving sizes that'll fill you up but the food is nothing to write home about.
